Oligopeptide-1 and human oligopeptide-1 (epidermal growth factor, EGF) are different substances. Oligopeptide-1 is a synthetic peptide composed of glycine, histidine and lysine. Human oligopeptide-1, also known as Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), is a 53-amino-acid "53-peptide" with a molecular weight of 6200 Dalton units.

Oligopeptide-1 is included in China's List of Names of Used Cosmetic Raw Materials (2015 edition), which is generally used as skin conditioner. Human oligopeptide-1 is not included in this catalogue. It is commonly used in the medical field. Its clinical indications are external treatment for burn, wound and surgical wound healing, and accelerating the growth of transplanted epidermis. Because of its high molecular weight, EGF is difficult to absorb under normal skin barrier conditions. Once the skin barrier is not functioning properly, other potential safety problems may arise. For the sake of effectiveness and safety, EGF should not be used as cosmetic raw material.

In conclusion, unlike oligopeptide-1, human oligopeptide-1 (EGF) should not be used as cosmetic raw materials. It is illegal to add or claim to contain human oligopeptide-1 or EGF in the formulation.
